This set of installation instructions is to be used for installation of gas fire log units.
The goal of this assignment was to create an instruction set that provides users with clear and systematic instructions to enable them accomplish given tasks, using an existing set of instructions provided by the professor. This particular set of instruction was taken off the internet and came from a web site that contains poorly written instructions. It did not contain sufficient information to enable users to accomplish the task of installing a gas fire log.
I did not know what a gas fire log was. And after finding out what it was, I started working on the assignment. I was able to write a set of instructions that contains key component of a good instruction set after reviewing the original one to see what was missing. Since I was allowed to use the internet as a resource, I looked at other gas-related instruction sets on the internet to see what type of information they contained.
Unlike the original instruction set, mine contains systematic instructions on how to install a gas fire log unit, it provides the user with an anticipated time in which the task can be completed, it has cautionary notes and outlines what users should expect to see after installation. It also provides users with the manufacture’s contact information and gives them advise on what to do or who to contact if they experience any difficulty while installing the product.
